James Underdown

James Underdown has been the Executive Director of the Center for Inquiry-Los Angeles since 1999. He has written for both Skeptical Inquirer and Free Inquiry magazines, and is Founder and Chairman of the Independent Investigations Group in Hollywood, CA, with affiliates in Washington D.C., Atlanta, GA, Denver, CO, and Alberta, Canada. The IIG and its affiliates offer a $50,000 prize for anyone who can prove paranormal ability under scientific testing conditions, and works with CSI, James Randi, and other groups throughout the world.

Mr. Underdown is an international spokesperson for the Committee for Scientific Investigation (CSI), and has appeared on many television shows including Miracle Detective,  Weird or What, 1000 Ways to Lie, Penn and Teller’s Bullshit (twice), Midday L.A., Angels vs. Demons, History’s Mysteries, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Hannity and Colmes, Life and Times, Proof Positive, WGN Morning Show, Truth, Lies, And Lewis Black, as well as scores of radio shows.

He has appeared at numerous conferences, workshops, and other gatherings in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom.

He is a 1982 graduate of DePauw University.  His eclectic past experience in many fields has aided him in becoming an investigator and media spokesman for skepticism and secular humanism.
